We’ve made it easier for our deaf BSL customers to communicate with us

Transport for Wales has partnered with SignVideo (formerly InterpreterNow) to aid communication between our deaf BSL customers and our frontline colleagues.

SignVideo is a mobile app that provides immediate access to online interpreting for deaf BSL users 24/7. It helps deaf and hearing people to communicate with each other.

Our customers can download the free app and sign to an interpreter via the app through a video call. The interpreter will then relay the customer query to a TfW colleague. The interpreter can then sign the answer back to the customer.

The app can be used anywhere across our network. From buying tickets to asking for information at a station and even for communicating with our conductors on the train.

Nearly all our trains and most of our stations now offer free Wi-Fi. Please remember that the app requires a good Wi-Fi signal or mobile data connection. You can download the SignVideo app for free on Android or iOS:

Speaking about the launch of the new app, Accessibility and Inclusion Manager Robert Gravelle commented:

"We are extremely proud to be the first transport provider in Wales to provide such support for the Deaf BSL using community. I look forward to this new app helping us take a further step towards providing fully accessible journeys for all our customers.

Jonathan Colligan Business Developer of SignVideo says:

"The fact that Transport for Wales has recognised the importance of inclusion in its operation signifies Wales as a country of great culture and openness within its community.
