Cardiff's waterfront boasts amazing restaurants, attractions and world-class entertainment

A short train ride away from Cardiff city centre, you can take in a show at the Millennium Centre, go for a boat ride or visit Wales' National Assembly building.

Trains to Cardiff Bay:

Must see:

  • Wales Millennium Centre - the national home for the performing arts - staging West End musicals, opera, ballet, circus and contemporary dance plus a huge programme of free performances
  • Senedd - The Senedd is the main building of the National Assembly for Wales and is the centre of Wales' devolution and democracy. It's open for members of the public to watch proceedings from the viewing gallery, have a cuppa in their cafe or enjoy one of the many exhibitions, performers or activities that are often on throughout the year.
  • Techniquest - Techniquest is the place to go for kids of all ages who are interested in science. The UK longest established science centre, their mission is to "embed science in Welsh culture through interactive engagement".

A Weekend in Cardiff Bay

Food Festival - every summer the Roald Dahl Plass, in the centre of Cardiff Bay, plays host to food stalls, bars and street food vendors. Don't miss out on this fantastic celebration of culinary delights.

Barrage - The Cardiff Bay Barrage connects the Bay to the nearby town of Penarth. You can walk along the flat pavement and enjoy the parks and locks along the way or catch a water taxi across. You can learn about the history of Scott of the Antarctic's on the ill-fated Terra Nova exhibition which set sail from Cardiff harbour in 1910.

Norwegian Church - Now an arts centre and coffee shop this church used to function as a meeting place for Norwegian seafarers. It's also the place where best-selling children's author Roald Dhal was baptised.
