Overview

One of three stations serving the town of Caerphilly, Aber station is located towards the western edge of the town, on the Valley line. Opened in the spring of 1908, it was originally named Beddau Halt, followed by Aber Junction Halt in 1926 and finally Aber in 1969.

The site that Caerphilly now occupies was once home to a Roman fort and many artefacts from this period are housed in the town’s museum. This, along with the impressive Norman castle and town walls, attracts tourists wishing to explore Caerphilly’s rich history. With a lively arts scene, locally produced cheeses and other artisanal foods, and friendly locals, the town is a great place to visit.
