Overview

Located on the Llandudno branch line, Deganwy railway station serves the seaside town of Deganwy. Built in 1866 by the London and North Western Railway, its original role was to carry slate from the quarries at Blaenau Ffestiniog to wharfs on the River Conwy for export.

With Deganwy Beach just a few minutes walk away, the town’s most visited attraction is the Norman castle that overlooks it. Once the seat of Maelgwn, King of Gwynedd, Deganwy was his capital, and although this was eventually moved to Anglesey, Deganwy has an important place in the history of Wales.
