Station message

The rail replacement bus stops are currently in Cardiff Road (instead of the station car park). Towards Radyr: station side. Towards Trefforest: opposite side.

From Monday 17 April 2023, until further notice, the station car park will be temporarily closed to due to Metro transformation work. Please use the car park located on Moy Road, located approximately 5 minutes walk away.

Ffordd Bleddyn, Taff's Well is currently closed so that part of the work for the South Wales Metro can be carried out.  There are temporary diversions on local roads, cycle paths and footpaths.  If you're driving, walking or cycling to the station, check how your journey will be affected and plan ahead.  Visit tfw.wales/ffordd-bleddyn for further information.

Overview

Serving the village of Taffs Well, the station of the same name was opened in 1863, and its two platforms see more than a third of a million passengers annually, many of these being commuters travelling into Cardiff. Originally known as Walnut Tree Junction, it was renamed Taffs Well in 1900.

Lying to the north of Cardiff, Taffs Well village is called the Gate to the Valleys by locals and is the location of the only thermal spring in Wales. Averaging a temperature of 21.6°C, the spring is considered a spiritual site by some, many visiting from great distances.
