Anytime tickets are brilliant for flexibility because you can use them any time of the day, any day of the week. You can buy them in advance or right before your journey so you don't need to pre-book. How they work depends on how far you're travelling and whether you want a single (one-way) ticket or return ticket.
You can use them for your outward trip at any time on the date printed on the ticket and - if you have the relevant return ticket - at any time within 1 calendar month for your return trip.
Anytime Single & Anytime Day Single
Valid for a single journey between two stations at any time on the date shown on your ticket.
Anytime Day Return
Valid for one return journey between two stations at any time on the date shown on your ticket.
Valid for one return journey between two stations. The outward ticket is valid for five days from start date printed on ticket. The return ticket is valid for one calendar month from the start date shown on ticket.
You can get more information about Anytime tickets from National Rail.
Where to buy an Anytime ticket
You can buy online, in app and from a ticket machine or at a ticket office.
How to change an Anytime ticket
You won't need to change your ticket if you just want to travel at a different time. And don't forget that return journeys can be made within a calendar month of the start date shown on your ticket.
If you do need to make a change however, here's how to do it:
- If you bought your ticket with us online, you can change it by visiting My Account >> Orders >> Change Journey
- If you bought your ticket at a station ticket machine or ticket office, just return to the station and we'll be happy to help
- If you bought your ticket from another retailer, like Trainline.com for example, please contact them directly
We charge a £10 fee per ticket to make changes.
